St. Joseph Communications Joins Apple’s News Service

Our growing portfolio of magazines is part of Apple’s new premium news subscription.

At its star-studded event on March 26 (“they’re in a billion pockets, y’all,” Oprah exclaimed on stage), Apple announced Apple News+, which adds over 300 popular magazines, newspapers and digital publishers to its existing Apple News service.

“We’re proud to be a part of Apple News+, bringing our great journalism to an even wider audience,” said Douglas Kelly, President of SJC Media in Apple’s launch press release.

In a personalized feed based on a wide variety of interests, readers receive a curated selection of stories and can access their favourite magazines all in one place, while continuing to enjoy the free features of Apple News. SJC tiles Toronto Life, FASHION Magazine, Ottawa Magazine, Weddingbells and Mariage Québec are available, as are our newly acquired Chatelaine, Today’s Parent, Maclean’s and Hello! Canada.  Among the U.S. magazines offered are Vanity Fair, The New Yorker, National Geographic and Vogue. Newspaper partners include The Wall Street Journal and The Toronto Star.

“We’re committed to supporting quality journalism, and with Apple News+, we want to celebrate the great work being done by magazines and news outlets,” said Lauren Kern, editor-in-chief of Apple News. “We think the breadth and quality of publications within Apple News+ will encourage more people to discover stories and titles they may never have come across before.”

A subscription to Apple News+ costs $12.99 a month in Canada. To download the app, users need to update their operating systems to iOS 12.2 for iPhone and iPad mobile devices or to macOS 10.14.4 for Apple laptops and desktop computers.
