SJC Invites Applications for its 5th Annual Family Wellness Grant

This National Giving Tuesday, SJC invites applications for the 2025 Giuseppina Gagliano Family Wellness Grant.

In honour of SJC's matriarch, Giuseppina Gagliano, this grant continues her legacy of supporting organizations dedicated to family well-being in Canada.

As an immigrant mother of 10 and partner to her entrepreneurial husband who started a printing business from the basement of their family home, Giuseppina faced challenges and sacrifices. Yet, she knew that a strong family foundation built on love and support could overcome anything.

The Giuseppina Gagliano Family Wellness Grant seeks to empower an organization that is helping Canadian youth experience the strength and security of a safe and happy family life. This includes having their basic needs met and being given equal opportunities to thrive, learn, grow, and feel valued and loved.

Are you interested in applying for the Grant? Here's what you need to know:

  • The Grant is open to Canadian registered charities that support family well-being, including but not limited to, shelter, physical health, mental health, education, childcare and financial stability.
  • Each year, the Grant will provide one organization with a $2,000 donation and two full-page print ads in their choice of SJC Media magazine (Toronto Life, Maclean’s, Chatelaine, Canadian Business, HELLO! Canada or FASHION) to raise awareness about their cause (up to $56,000 value).
  • The recipient will be announced on March 8, 2025, International Women’s Day.

Meet our past Giuseppina Gagliano Family Wellness Grant recipients

2021 Recipient: First Nations Child & Family Caring Society of Canada - Supports culturally based equity for First Nations children and their families.

2022 Recipient: George Hull Centre - Provides mental health support for children and families.

2023 Recipient: SMILE (Single Mothers Inspiring Leadership in Education) Foundation - Helps low-income, single mothers improve their lives through education.

2024 Recipient: Girls Inc. of Durham - delivers life-changing programs and experiences that equip girls to overcome serious barriers to grow up strong, smart and bold.
