Today’s Parent, Canada’s most trusted parenting resource, is proud to announce a year-long partnership with MediaSmarts, the country’s leading digital media literacy organization. This collaboration is set to launch during Media Literacy Week, from October 21 to 25, 2024, with the shared mission of equipping parents with the knowledge and tools they need to help their children navigate the complex digital world.
As part of this partnership, MediaSmarts will provide a series of six articles over the next year, exclusively featured on Today’s Parent. These articles will offer expert insights into media literacy, digital media use and online safety, focusing on practical ways parents can engage with their children on these important topics. Together, Today’s Parent and MediaSmarts will amplify these resources across their social channels to ensure families across Canada have access to these valuable tools.
“We are excited to partner with MediaSmarts to bring timely, relevant media literacy content to parents across Canada,” said Vanessa Grant, executive editor at Today’s Parent. “In our digital age when children are constantly interacting with online platforms, it is essential for families to understand how to navigate these spaces safely and responsibly.”
"MediaSmarts is thrilled to partner with Today’s Parent to empower parents and guardians in navigating the technology their children use," said Kathryn Hill, executive director of MediaSmarts. "We're looking forward to offering practical tips and actions for parents, from establishing family tech rules to having regular conversations with kids about their online activities. We’re here to support families every step of the way.”
As part of the national conversation during Media Literacy Week, both organizations encourage parents, educators, and community members to engage in activities and discussions about the role of media in everyday life.
